On Inherent Limits of Constitutional Democracy

Abstract: The article looks at the inherent limits of constitutional democracy, i.e. the topic which should be discussed first when dealing with real or putative crisis of Central European democracies. After a brief introductory discussion of the very concept of constitutional democracy, it starts with the presentation of the democratic and constitutionalist accounts of the difficulties of constitutional democracy. Further, it discusses constitutional failure during the creation and maintenance of constitutional democracy. Finally, this exploratory article ends with a typology of the internal and external limits of constitutional democracy.
