Abstract: Law schools are forming the minds of future lawyers. It is not possible to prepare students for every single situation they may face in legal practice. Therefore, law schools should focus on teaching students how to think like lawyers. This concept is very popular in American legal literature and the aim of this article is to discuss possible meanings of this concept within a Czech context. Firstly, I focus on legal education in the USA where thinking like a lawyer is connected with a specific teaching method – case method. Secondly, I introduce possible aspects of thinking like a lawyer within the Czech context. Specifying what thinking like a lawyer means should help focus on it in everyday legal education.
