Abstract: This article provides the reader with a typology of disputes that occur between the religious community and states before the European Court of Human Rights within the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. The first part is focused on disputes concerning labour law issues, the second part on disputes concerning legal personality of religious communities, the third part on disputes relating to discrimination, and the last part on disputes concerning property. Each part of the article contains a resume of the relevant case law, including relevant facts of each case. Each part of the article also contains the author’s own conclusions and relevant summaries of the literature.
